Indianapolis 500 winner Simon Pagenaud of Team Penske had a fantastic time at the Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday.

The Frenchman who swept the month of May at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in his No.22 Menards Chevrolet was a guest of the Renault F1 Team and on Sunday he tweeted:

It was a disappointing race for the Enstone outfit however as Nico Hulkenberg finished the race in 12th while Daniel Ricciardo came home in 14th.

Despite this however, Pagrnaud had a great day with the team:

The fun didn’t stop with the Renault F1 Team as Pagenaud was given the honor of waving the chequered flag as race winner Lewis Hamilton crossed the to claim his seventh win of the season and took a 62 point lead in the championship into the Summer break.

Pagenaud will return to the US this week to prepare for the ABC Supply 500 at Pocono Raceway which takes place in just under two weeks time.

The Frenchman is currently in third place in the NTT IndyCar Series championship, 47 points behind leader and his Team Penske team mate Josef Newgarden with just four races remaining this season.

Pagenaud is aiming to become the first driver since Dario Franchitti in 2010 to win both the NTT IndyCar Series championship and the Indianapolis 500 in the same year.
