McLaren Executive Director Zak Brown said that Fernando Alonso had a fantastic month of May after the Spaniard made his Verizon IndyCar Series debut in the 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil.
Alonso was forced retire from the race with just 20 laps to go due to an engine failure and Brown said that he has yet to speak to the double Formula One championship and unsure about what he plans are. Brown also said that he expects Alonso to return to the Indianapolis 500 in future but is not sure if that will be next year.
It was great to see Fernando leading races as he is so accustomed to we are just in a bit of shock here that we didn’t make it to the finish. We would like see him in our Formula One car next year.
