Arrow McLaren’s driver Pato O’Ward in the No.5 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet was fastest on the opening day of practice at the Mid-Ohio Sportscar course on Friday

Speaking following the action he said:

“A good start here at Mid-Ohio. “We made some good changes to the car and ended up the practice in a really nice spot. Looking forward to tomorrow.”

O’Ward went in to say:

We’ll see if the rain decides to make an appearance or not, but so far, so good.

Alexander Rossi in the No.7 VELO Chevrolet ended the day in ninth place with a time of 01:07.1953s.

Speaking following the action he said:

”It was okay. It’s always fun coming back here. It’s an awesome track to drive on. We’re a little bit further off than we wanted for the first session, but the good thing about having a teammate this quick is that you’ve got good stuff to look at.”

Felix Rosenqvist in the No.6 NTT DATA Chevrolet was 13th with a time of 01:07.3249s and speaking following the action he said:

Good practice for us. We were sort of in the top for most of the session, but then on the Firestone Reds, for whatever reason, we didn’t improve. We will have to look at that, because Pato had the biggest step of everyone. I think he found a second, and we couldn’t find anything. It seems to be a bit inconsistent through the field but overall good.

Gavin Ward Racing Director of Arrow McLaren commented saying:

It’s always good to finish a session on top of the time sheets, but it was an interesting one today. It was a bit of a change with the repave in Turn 1. The tires are always an interesting topic every year when we come back to a track, and I think today, you had to get your lap done at the peak. It was actually more spread out than a typical NTT INDYCAR SERIES session. I feel like we’ve got a little bit of homework to do to get all three cars up there, but at least we have a good reference point.”
