Meyer Shank Racing’s Felix Rosenqvist, in the No. 60 SiriusXM Honda, had a fantastic day in the XPEL Grand Prix of Road America. The Swede started the 55-lap race from 12th place and put a great strategy together with the team to claim Meyer Shank Racing’s best result since Simon Pagenaud’s second-place finish at the IMS road course in 2022.
Rosenqvist jumped into second place with two laps to go after race leaders, Scott Dixon and Alexander Rossi, were forced to make last-minute pit stops for fuel, which gave the MSR driver an advantage, and he managed to close the gap to just 2.1s to Palou at the end of the race.
Speaking following the race he said:
We had really good pace. The SiriusXM Honda was just phenomenal and we deserve it. We’ve had some bad luck the last few races and really haven’t had a good go. It’s a great comeback and it’s been a while since I’ve been on the podium and we finally got what we deserved this year.”
Rosenqvist is fourth in the championship, equal on points with his former Chip Ganassi Racing teammate Scott Dixon. Marcus Armstrong in No.66 Sirius XM Honda had a great race coming from 15th on the grid to finish the race in fifth place and speaking following the action he said:
“It was a good race—we stuck to our plan, I thought that we did a very good job with the strategy. Unfortunately we got pushed off track a couple of times by some people who were way off the pace. But we kept our cool, saved some fuel, and came back through. It was a good weekend, and we are just gaining some momentum with these top tens, and now we are heading to MSR’s home track at Mid Ohio so hopefully we can keep that up.
