Five time NTT IndyCar Series champion and 2008 Indianapolis 500 winner Scott Dixon who drives the No.9 PNC Bank Honda for Chip Ganassi Racing says that switching the 104th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge from May 24 to August 23 is a great move by the series, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Roger Penske and his team.

It was announced on Thursday that for the first time since 1946 the Indianapolis 500 will shift from its traditional May slot to later in the Summer due to the global COVID 19 pandemic.

Speaking to RTV6’s Dave Furst from his home in Indianapolis, the Iceman said he guessed that the NTT IndyCar Series and Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series along with IMS and Roger Penske would decide to have a double header weekend at the Speedway which takes place over the 4th July weekend.

Dixon said that he is excited to have the have the GMR Grand Prix of Indianapolis and NASCAR’s Brickyard 400 on the same weekend.
