Christian Lundgaard in the No.30 Shield Cleansers Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing Honda had a breakthrough race in the Gallagher Grand Prix of Indianapolis on the IMS road course on Saturday.
The Dane, who made his NTT IndyCar Series race debut here 12 months ago with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing started today’s race from sixth and came through to claim his maiden NTT IndyCar Series podium finish in second place just behind race winner Alexander Rossi.
The podium was Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s first podium since Graham Rahal finished in third place at Texas Motor Speedway in 2021.
Speaking following the race, Lundgaard said:
“At the end of the third stint, I was catching Alex. “I was really hoping because every pit stop we always caught up. We lost a bit in the beginning of the stint. The Andretti car had just so much better power down than we did today. That’s what killed our rear tires, and we struggled on the long run.
“The result speaks for itself. Coming in this weekend, we knew we had a strong car.”
