Defending Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton kicked off his home Grand Prix in style at Silverstone this weekend as the Mercedes driver led Valtteri Bottas in a team 1-2 in this morning’s scorching practice session.
The four time world champion set a fastest time of 01:27.487s.
Ferrari’s championship leader Sebastian Vettel was third fastest just ahead of Aston Martin Red Bull Racing’s Daniel Ricciardo while Kimi Raikkonen was fifth fastest in the second Ferrari despite the Iceman going for a spin at Brooklands.
Max Verstappen was sixth fastest in the second Aston Martin Red Bull Racing car however he brought out the VSC (Virtual Safety Car) after stopping on track along the pit straight.
Romain Grosjean continued the Haas F1 Team’s good run of form in srventh.
Sahara Force India’s Sergio ‘Checo’ Perez and Esteban Ocon were eighth and ninth while Williams Martini Racing’s Lance Stroll rounded out the top ten.
Marcus Ericsson was 11th for the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team just ahead of Scuderia Toro Rosso’s Pierre Gasly and Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team’s Charles Leclerc.
Kevin Magnussen was 14th for the Haas F1 Team just ahead of McLaren Renault Fernando Alonso and the Renault Sport F1 Team’s Carlos Sainz.
Stoffel Vandoorne was 17th in the second McLaren just ahead of Nico Hulkenberg in the second Renault.
Brendon Hartley was 19th in his Toro Rosso while Sergey Siroktin rounded out the order in 20th.
