A motorsport-themed movie theater has come to Lafayette Square in Indianapolis with the opening of the Alamo Drafthouse.
The Alamo Drafthouse which opens to the public on Monday, 18th November is just an 11 minute drive from The Racing Capital Of The World, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home of the Indianapolis 500.
If you are a fan of motorsports than the Alamo is the place for you! They have an old Penske INDYCAR in the main lobby as you enter the theater.
There is a motorsport-themed arcade with a Chip Ganassi Racing liveried simulator where you can choose from five tracks to race on including both the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road and oval courses.
There are also a number of Mario Kart arcade games.
When it comes to the film experience, guests are in for a treat! The theater has a table service where you can order food and drinks during your selected movie.
I had the pleasure of being treated to a wonderful meal a while watching Rush, the Ron Howard directed movie that tells the story of the historic Formula One rivalry between Niki Lauda and James Hunt and the devastating accident that Lauda suffered during the 1976 German Grand Prix at the Nurburgring and his remarkable recovery and triumphant return to racing with Ferrari.
On the walls of the theater there newspaper clippings relating to INDYCAR and four-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves who is now a co-owner of Meyer Shank Racing has a race suit and helmet on display in the lobby of the theater.
The Alamo Drafthouse opens to the public on Monday 18th November 2024.
