The 2020 NTT IndyCar Series season officially kicks off this weekend with the Firsestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg in Florida.
There have been changes up and and down pit road ahead of the new season however none more so than at Arrow McLaren SP.
It was announced late last year that the Sam Schmidt led team have entered into a long term partnership with McLaren Racing with the team undergoing wholesale changes.
The first major change was the news that both James Hinchcliffe and Marcus Ericsson left the team and while Ericsson landed at Chip Ganassi Racing, the Mayor of HinchTown has landed a partial programme with Andretti Autosport.
Arrow McLaren SP have a new engine partner in Chevrolet and they have a new exciting driving pairing of Oliver Askew and Patricio O’Ward.
The team have also announced that they will enter Fernando Alonso in the 104th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on May 24.
The team have also brought in highly rated engineer Craig Hampson to lead their engineering department.
Speaking ahead of this weekend’s race team co owner Sam Schmidt said:
This year represents thousands of hours of effort by our team members and partners. I’m so incredibly excited to build upon our partnership with Arrow and add one of the most iconic names in motorsport, McLaren, to the team. I can’t wait to see these cars race in St. Pete, going fast with our young, talented and exciting driver lineup.
