The Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the NTT IndyCar Series and IMS Productions may soon be under Penske ownership with Roger Penske confirming that he has some good plans for a more immersive fan experience at the Indianapolis 500 however one thing that seems unlikely is a night time running of the Indianapolis 500.
Paddock Eye understands that the idea of a night time Indianapolis 500 has been mooted on social media media this week however while Mr Penske has said that anything is on the table when it comes to the speedway it is unlikely to include a night time running of the most famous motor race in the world at least for the foreseeable future.
There are a lot of factors to take into account, while the idea of a night edition of the Greatest Spectacle In Racing is great as for one thing it would avoid a clash with the Monaco Grand Prix TV scheduling around the world would have to be changed.
The scheduling of the event may have to change slightly given the fact that the Chevrolet Belle Isle Grand Prix takes place just six days after the Indianapolis 500 and on the Monday after the race there are media requests and photographs that have to be taken.
It may be something that Penske Entertainment will consider in the future as The Captain is exploring all options.
