Dale Coyne Racing’s rookie Santiago Ferrucci driving the No.19 Paysafe Honda had a great opening race weekend in the Verizon IndyCar Series at the Chevrolet Dual in Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear.

Ferrucci started race 2 from an impressive 13th place ahead of series veterans such as defending series champion Josef Newgarden and Tony Kanaan.

Ferrucci was impressive throughout the race, running well until he spun coming out of the pits while attempting to stay ahead of a competitor. Speaking following the race, Ferrucci commented by saying:

I can’t thank the guys on the #19 Paysafe crew at Dale Coyne Racing enough. From the engineering team to the mechanics, they gave me an absolute stellar race car. “I’m just upset, being a rookie, that I made a rookie mistake coming out of the pits and spinning the car. Despite that, we showed incredible pace throughout the race. I just wish I had a better result to show for it. These guys really deserve a good finish. I’m very happy that I was able to come out and participate this weekend in Detroit and I hope to be back.

Canadian Zachary Claman DeMelo will be back in the No.19 Paysafe Honda for next weekend’s DXC Technology 600 at Texas Motor Speedway.
