The Verizon IndyCar Series heads to Canada this weekend of the Honda Indy Toronto however before we get going on the 2016 edition which marks the 30th anniversary of IndyCar in Toronto here is a recap of what happened during last years race.

In 2015, CFH Racing’s Josef Newgarden won the race leading a 1-2 finish ahead of Luca Fillipi.

Fast forward 12 months, Sarah Fisher may no longer be involved with the team but Josef Newgarden certainly is. The American who won last time out in Iowa heads into this weekend’s race as the defending winner when driving the No.67 CFH Racing Chevrolet.

Newgarden who goes into the race in second in the points standings 73 behind Simon Pagenaud has a great opportunity to win the race here having completely dominating the Iowa Corn 300 leading 282 of 300 laps. Another driver who will be hoping for a strong result is Jame Hinchcliffe in the No.5 Arrow Honda as he races in front of his home crowd for the first time since 2014.

The other big questions are can Simon Pagenaud extend his lead in the championship even further? Will Juan Pablo Montoya be able to rediscover some of his early season form following a number of tough races, we will find out the answers to these questions and more on Sunday.
