The Verizon IndyCar Series title contenders Simon Pagenaud and Will Power both driving for Team Penske kicked off the title showdown weekend in style.

The pair drove the No.22 Hewlett Packard Enterprises Chevrolet (Pagenaud) and the No.12 Verizon Chevrolet (Power) down Pier 39 in San Francisco on Thursday. The pair were pursued by the Championship Astor Challenge Cup which was driven down Pier 39 in the Verizon IndyCar Series 2 seater.

Pagenaud heads into this weekend’s season finale GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma with a 43 point lead over Power in the championship race however with double points on offer it is still all to play for between the pair.

One thing is assured and that is Roger Penske will win the championship in his 50th year in motorsport and what a way to celebrate.
