Former Verizon IndyCar Series driver Mikhail Aleshin issued the following statement via his official Facebook page after it was announced on Saturday that he will not complete the 2017 season with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports.
Dear race fans, together with SMP Racing and SPM, I would like to announce that I will be not able to take a part in last Indycar races this season, due work on our new Russian LMP1 car – BR1. That will be a new, very important and very interesting challenge in my life!!!:)))))///
Schmidt Peterson Motorsports have yet to announce who will replace Aleshin as James Hinchcliffe’s team mate for the final four races of the 2017 season.
