Carlin Racing’s Charlie Kimball driving the No.23 Tresba Chevrolet took to his official Instagram page on Sunday to say:
Took a step in the right direction last night. On to Long Beach! #westcoastbestcoast
Kimball started Saturday night’s 250 lap race, the Desert Diamond West Valley Casino Phoenix Grand Prix at ISM Raceway from 22nd place and finished the event in 17th place and speaking following the race he commented by saying:
Tonight’s race was definitely a step in the right direction for us. We made some progress with the set-up and by the end of the race the No. 23 Tresiba Chevrolet felt the best it had all weekend. We learned a lot and we got a huge amount of information that will help us moving forward.
Max Chilton in the No.59 Gallagher Chevrolet started the race from 21st place and finished the event in 18th place. Speaking following the race, the Englishman commented by saying:
It was a tough weekend for the team, but every time we’re on track we’re learning and making progress. That race was just tough. We didn’t qualify well and starting so far back on the grid on a track that’s already difficult to pass on made it even harder to gain any positions. By the end of the race we had quite good pace, we just couldn’t move forward at all. I’m ready to move on from tonight’s race and get to Long Beach to see what we can do there.
