Andretti Autosport’s Ryan Hunter Reay in the No.28 DHL Honda says he had a tough day in practice at Road America ahead of Sunday’s REV Group Grand Prix as he ended the day in second place with a time of 01:47.8024s and speaking following the action he commented saying:

“The track was tough today with low grip and the windy conditions, but the DHL Honda ran up front all session and finished P2, which is encouraging considering we only used one set of tires and Romain (Grosjean) used two.”

Colton Herta in the No.26 Gainbridge Honda ended the day in sixth place with a time of 01:48:1407s and speaking following the action he said:

“The Gainbridge car seems okay, we ended up near the top so that’s a good sign. The track was a real handful. With all of the rain from last night, there really wasn’t any rubber down but the car seems pretty good in these conditions and it’s just going to keep getting grippier and grippier. We’ll just have to adjust for that tomorrow.”

Alexander Rossi in the No.27 AutoNation Honda ended the day in 16th place with a time of 01:48:7379s and speaking following the action he commented saying:

“I’m happy to be back at Road America. It’s a lot hotter today than it’s supposed to be the rest of the weekend, so we can’t read into it too much yet. It wasn’t a great first session for us, but we got through the plan and the things we needed to. Hopefully what we learned today will help us out tomorrow.”

James Hinchcliffe in the No.29 Genesys Honda ended the day in 20th place with a time of 01:49:5357s and speaking following the action he commented saying:

“It was a pretty tough day for us. The track conditions caught everyone by surprise – the times were obviously way off. I didn’t run here last year, so this is my first time here with the Aeroscreen. It definitely handles a little differently. Obviously Ryan (Hunter-Reay) was quick, so we’re all going to have to look into what the 28 car is doing. It was nice to be able to have a practice session today and actually have some things to look at and have some time to make those changes before qualifying. Hopefully we can make some changes and get the Genesys Honda up there tomorrow.”
