Matt Kenseth who has come out of retirement to drive the No.42 Chevrolet Camaro for Chip Ganassi Racing in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series says it was a unique opportunity at a unique time.

Speaking to Fox Sports following the news, Kenseth who has won the Daytona 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 during his career said that the deal to return to the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series with Chip Ganassi Racing came together in the last week and a half.

Kenseth revealed that he spoke with his wife about the offer and that also spoke at length with Chip Ganassi Racing’s with Max Jones who oversees the team’s NASCAR operation.

The 2020 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series is set to resume in Darlington early next month behind closed doors.
