Chip Ganassi Racing engineers Kate Gundlach and Danielle Shepard played a key part in Scott Dixon’s win in the opening race of the Chevrolet Dual in Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix on Saturday afternoon.
Gundlach and Shepard who are on the timing stand with the No.9 PNC Bank crew helped guide Dixon to the front of the field during the 70 lap race using a great strategy which saw the Iceman who started from second place on the grid lead a total of 39/70 laps to take the 42nd victory of his Verizon IndyCar Series career.
Dixon has now tied for third place in the all time win list in the Verizon IndyCar Series with former driver turned team owner Michael Andretti.
Ganassi will be hoping for a repeat performance in today’s race 2 at the Chevrolet Belle Isle Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear.
Dixon goes into the race in second place in the championship just four points behind championship leader Alexander Rossi.
