ABC have confirmed that they will provide enhanced coverage of the 100th edition of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil including time trials for this historic event.

In 2016 the Verizon IndyCar Series network partners will broadcast more than 110 hours of on-air coverage including LIVE coverage of all 16 races on the schedule including qualifying shows for all of NBCSN’s events.

Mark Miles, CEO of IndyCar and Indianapolis Motor Speedway parent company, Hulman & Company commented by saying:

Viewership of INDYCAR programming has surged the past two years and that is directly related to the incredible on-track competition, the quality of programming produced by our partners at ABC and NBCSN, and the careful selection of the best race time slots available.

Miles went on to discuss the schedule by saying:

In compiling the 2016 television schedule, we have continued to build off strong lead-in programming and optimal time slots to extend that viewership momentum. We believe this, coupled with the historic 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500, returns to iconic Indy car tracks at Phoenix and Road America, and an exciting new event on the streets of Boston will propel the excitement and viewership further forward.

ABC have also confirmed that for the third straight season Allen Bestwick will present their coverage with former IndyCar drivers Scott Goodyear and Eddie Cheever continuing as analysts.

ABC’s pit-lane reporters will be John Beekhuis, Rick DeBruhl and Dr Jerry Punch while Lindsay Czarniak will present coverage of the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil.

ESPN also continue their coverage of the Verizon IndyCar Series and speaking about their continued partnership Julie Sobieski Vice President of ESPN’s league sports programming commented by saying;

We’re proud to be part of a sport with not only historic traditions but also a very exciting future, We have been pointing to the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500 for a long time and especially look forward to that event and our 52nd consecutive year at the ‘Greatest Spectacle in Racing.

NBCSN’s coverage of the Verizon IndyCar Series begins with the Phoenix Grand Prix from April 1 -2 as the sport returns to Phoenix International Raceway. NBCSN will continue with qualifying and race coverage of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach which takes place on April 16 and 17.

They will also provide coverage of practice, qualifying and the race from the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama at Barber Motorsports Park which takes place from April 22-24. They will also provide 4 and a hours of coverage from Miller Light Carb Day at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on May 27.
