Abel Motorsports, the newest team on the NTT INDYCAR SERIES grid will switch gears on Monday as they join the rest of the grid for the 107th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for a day of testing.
The practice today gives the team an opportunity to dial in their race day setup ahead of Sunday’s race.
Team manager John Brunner is excited:
We have some tremendously talented guys who’ve built this car, and who are working on it this month to give us a real shot. “They’ve done an amazing job so far and we know that will continue.”
RC Enerson will make his Indy 509 debut this weekend, something he is incredibly excited about.
Now that we’re in I can relax. We had a very solid run in qualifying, and that was our plan all along, to just have to make one run to get in the show. We’ll go through all the data and see what we need to do to get set as far as race trim is concerned. We’ll be ready for practice and Carb Day for sure.”
Team owner Bill Abel is extremely proud of the work the team has done to get them this far.
“I’m now finally starting to wrap my brain around what we’ve been able to do so far. It’s just amazing. The support we’re getting from Chevrolet has been outstanding. Our “stretch goal” was to be in the show (Saturday). We figured we might have to come back and run on Sunday but it wasn’t necessary.”
