AJ Foyt Racing’s Takuma Sato and Jack Hawksworth head to the IndyCar Grand Prix at Watkins Glen aiming for a better weekend following a tough race in Texas.
At the Firestone 600 on Saturday both Takuma Sato in the No.14 ABC Supply Co Honda and Jack Hawksworth in the No.41 ABC Supply Co Honda retired from the race. For Sato, who retired as a result of a mechanical issue it was his second consecutive retirement having crashed heavily on the opening lap of the ABC Supply 500 at Pocono Raceway.
Speaking ahead of the race at the Glen, Sato commented by saying:
Watkins Glen is an outstanding track. I’m very happy to hear this venue is returning to the series. I’ve raced there only once in my debut season in INDYCAR in 2010, but I really enjoy this challenging road course. Unfortunately, we couldn’t come to the test here unlike everyone else, so we will face a big challenge but I trust we can catch up quickly and have a strong weekend.
Jack Hawksworth commented by saying:
Watkins Glen is a proper racetrack from what I have seen. A variety of corners and very unforgiving in terms of runoff. I look forward to hanging it out there myself on Friday.
