AJ Foyt Racing head to the Indianapolis 500 at the end of the month following a mixed season to date. The outfit have two new drivers for the 2018 season with Verizon IndyCar Series veteran and 2013 Indy 500 winner Tony Kanaan joining the team from Chip Ganassi Racing over the off-season.

Kanaan is joined at the team by fellow Brazilian Matheus ‘Matt’ Leist. During last weeks open test at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, TK ended the day fastest of the 21 drivers taking part.

Kanaan posted a fastest speed of 226.181MPH and speaking following the on track action the Brazilian said:

Every year we come back (to Indianapolis) the first day, everybody has a huge smile on their faces. “I love it, I love this place. I mean, it’s magical. I wish we could do this every race.

“It was a beautiful day out there. Got a lot of laps in, a lot of learning to do.

Kanaan will make his 287th consecutive Verizon IndyCar Series start at this weekend’s IndyCar Grand Prix at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Foyt will run three cars for the 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500 with James Davision joining the team driving the Foyt/Jonathan Byrd Racing/Hollinger/Belardi Auto Racing No.33 Chevrolet/
