Andretti Autosport’s Alexander Rossi in the No.98 Honda was fourth fastest just ahead of team mate Carlos Munoz with Team Penske’s Will Power in sixth place.
Tony Kanaan in the No.10 NTT DATA Chevrolet was 7th fastest for Chip Ganassi Racing ending the session just ahead of team mate Charlie Kimball in the No.83 NovoNordisk Chevrolet who was forced to end the session earlier after hitting the wall at Turn 1.
Team Penske’s Juan Pablo Montoya was ninth fastest despite bringing out a caution at the end of the session after hitting the wall at turn 2.
Ed Carpenter Racing’s Ed Carpenter in the No.20 Fuzzy’s Ultra Premium Vodka Chevrolet was 10th fastest ending the morning just ahead of AJ Foyt Racing’s Jack Hawksworth in the No.41 ABC Supply Co Honda while Scott Dixon was 12th fastest in the No.9 Target Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet.
Ryan Hunter Reay was 13th fastest despite making hard contact with the wall at turn 1. Verizon IndyCar Series points leader Simon Pagenaud was 14th fastest in the No.22 Menards Chevrolet.
Helio Castroneves was 15th fastest in the No.3 Hitachi Team Penske Chevrolet ending the session just ahead of Takuma Sato in the No.14 ABC Supply Co Honda.
Marco Andretti in the United Fiber and Data/Snapple Honda was 17th fastest ending the session just ahead of Max Chilton in the No.8 Gallagher Chevrolet ending the session just ahead of Graham Rahal in the No.15 Bobby Rahal Automotive Group Honda.
Sebastien Bourdais was 20th fastest for KVSH Racing in the No.11 Team Hydroxycut Chevrolet.
