Defending NTT IndyCar Series champion Scott Dixon who drives the No.9 PNC Ban Honda for Chip Ganassi Racing says he is pretty happy with how the opening day of Spring Training went at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin Texas on Tuesday.
The Iceman finished the day with the fifth fastest time of the session with a 01:48.0474s and speaking following the action he said:
I’ve never been even to Austin, so it’s a big track and it’s got a lot of elevation. You just really don’t see the elevation until you drive it, so that was probably my first shock, just how steep Turn 1 is. Also, the changes of elevation through Turns 3 through 9, they’re complex, as well. Today went OK, we just eased into it. We did do a set of tires at the end there, but all in all, pretty happy with how it went.
It was a great day for Dixon’s team mate Felix Rosenqvist who ended up with the fourth fastest time of the second session, a 01:48.0451s.
