Alpine F1 Team driver Fernando Alonso who returns to the sport for the first time since 2018 says that he feels like he is a more rounded driver following his time away from the sport.

The double Formula One world champion returns to Formula One with the Enstone-based outfit having competed in and won the World Endurance Championship with Toyota as well as competing in the DAKAR Rally while the Spaniard also competed in the 2020 Indianapolis 500 with Arrow McLaren SP.

Speaking to media ahead of qualifying for today’s opening race of the season, Alonso said that he had been misquoted in that he never said that he was a better driver than Kimi Raikkonen, Lewis Hamilton, and Sebastian Vettel.

The Spaniard will start today’s race from ninth on the grid.
