Double Formula One world champion Fernando Alonso and the McLaren Formula One team have officially ended their long running relationship.

The Spaniard who retired from Formula One at the end of the 2018 season after four seasons with the Woking based outfit remained with the team as an ambassador.

Alonso who failed to qualify for the 2019 Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge won the 2018/19 FIA World Endurance Championship with Toyota Gazoo Racing and on Sunday finished 13th overall.

Today’s announcement means that the Spaniard is a free agent for the 104th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge and Paddock Eye understands that Andretti Autosport will announce they have signed the Spaniard to form their sixth and final entry for ‘Greatest Spectacle In Racing’.
