Fernando Alonso has told McLaren Honda staff that he is committed to their Formula One project and says he is going nowhere.

The double world champion has been linked with Nico Rosberg’s vacated seat at the Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team but his meeting with McLaren shows he is going nowhere.

Alonso’s appearance at the factory comes just days after his long term manager Flavio Briatore confirmed that the Spaniard would be going nowhere next season.

The news means that Williams Martini Racing’s Valtteri Bottas remains the clear favourite to replace Nico Rosberg next season.
