Double Formula One world champion Fernando Alonso who will return to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in August to compete in the 104th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on August 23 has confirmed he will attend the GMR Grand Prix Of Indianapolis on July 4.
Speaking to NTT IndyCar Series veteran Tony Kanaan of AJ Foyt Racing during a Facebook video on Monday, Alonso who won the 24 Hours of LeMans with Toyota in 2019 confirmed that he will attend the GMR Grand Prix of Indianapolis with Arrow McLaren SP.
The Spaniard did not say however whether or not he will compete in the race or just be there as an advisor to the team’s drivers Oliver Askew and Patricio O’Ward.
Alonso has previously said that he would be keen to compete in an IndyCar road course event.
Alonso also confirmed to Kanaan that has been working with Arrow McLaren SP engine provider Chevrolet.
The Spaniard is returning to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway where he hopes to qualify for and have strong run in the 104th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge having failed to qualify for the race last season.
