McLaren Formula One team ambassador Fernando Alonso who retired from the sport at the end of last season has confirmed that he will return to the Indianapolis 500 in 2020.

Speaking to Sky Sports F1HD on Friday at the Italian Grand Prix the double Formula One champion said that he has some unfinished business in 2020 namely competing in the 104th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge and with McLaren Racing entering the NTT IndyCar Series full time next season as Arrow McLaren Racing SP with Chevrolet power with James Hinchcliffe as one of their full time drivers Paddock Eye understands that Fernando Alonso will drive a third Arrow McLaren Racing SP Chevrolet in the Greatest Spectacle In Racing next May.

Alonso said that he has a few projects on the go for 2020 which could include a run in the 2020 Dakar Rally with Toyota Gazoo Racing.

The former McLaren, Renault and Minardi driver said that he may be tempted into returning to Formula One in 2021 when the new regulations come into force as it will level the playing field.
