Double Formula One world champion Fernando Alonso could be set to return to Formula One in 2021.
The Telegraph newspaper in the UK are reporting that the Renault F1 Team are in talks with Alonso that would see the Spaniard return to Enstone for a third stint to replace Daniel Ricciardo in 2021.
Alonso retired from Formula One at the end of the 2018 and was extremely successful in the World Endurance Championship winning the title and the 24 Hours of LeMans with Toyota Gazoo Racing in 2018/19.
Speaking to the official LeMans website last week, Alonso who will compete in the 104th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on August 23 in a third Arrow McLaren SP alongside Patricio O’Ward and Oliver Askew said he may not return to Formula One.
Alonso however has been teasing fans over the last few days with flashback photos from his time with Renault when he won the championship with the team in 2005 and 2006.
