Double Formula One world champion Fernando Alonso has all the ingredients to be successful in the 101 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil next month.
The Spaniard, who will make his Verizon IndyCar Series debut in a test at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in two weeks has plenty of people helping him.
The Spaniard will have a small support team from McLaren with him for the race along with McLaren Executive Director Zak Brown.
In Andretti Autosport, Alonso’s team mate’s are extremely experienced with Ryan Hunter Reay having won the Indianapolis 500 in 2014 and the Verizon IndyCar Series title in 2012.
Alonso also have reigning Indianapolis 500 champion Alexander Rossi in the team along with former F1 driver Takuma Sato as well as Marco Andretti.
Alonso will also have team owner Michael Andretti in his ear calling the race for him, not only that but he can also draw on the experience of Verizon IndyCar Series legend Mario Andretti who won the Indianapolis 500 in 1969.
It was announced on Thursday that Alonso will drive his McLaren Andretti Honda for the first time at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on May 3.
Alonso along with McLaren Executive Director Zak Brown are at Barber Motorsports Park this weekend for the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama, round three of the 2017 Verizon IndyCar series season.
