McLaren Renault driver Fernando Alonso has hinted that he may return to compete in the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2019.

The two time world champion competed in the 2017 Indy 500 with Andretti Autosport where he fought for the win before being forced to retire from the race due to an engine failure.

The Spaniard is currently in the US testing in Daytona with United Autosports alongside McLaren reserve driver Lando Norris and former F1 driver Bruno Senna who will all compete in the Daytona 24 Hours.

Speaking at his first test in the Daytona car, Alonso said that he is still targeting winning the triple crown but that his main focus is one winning a third Formula One title.
