Fernando Alonso says he could move to the IndyCar Series full time in 2020.
The double Formula One world champion will retire from the sport following this weekend’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at the Yas Marina circuit.
Alonso has confirmed some plans for 2019 already as he will participate in the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500 next May with McLaren.
The Spaniard will also continue competing in the World Endurance Championship with Toyota Gazoo Racing.
Alonso has confirmed that he may return to Formula One in 2020. It is also possible that he could go full-time in IndyCar with McLaren if they decide to compete in IndyCar full-time in 2020 and that is why Bob Fernley has been brought in as McLaren’s IndyCar president to evaluate whether it is feasible for them to compete in the series full time.
