Toyota Gazoo Racing’s Fernando Alonso says that the team’s dominance so far in the 2018 World Endurance Championship season is due to the fact that they have had great executions of their race weekend’s when it comes to qualifying and then great pit-stops and driver changes in the races.
Alonso was speaking after Toyota scored another 1-2 finish at their home event, the Six Hours of Fuji on Sunday.
The 1-2 finish came after the team were excluded from the previous race, the Six Hours Of Silverstone back in August following a technical infringement. The Spaniard who started the race from pole finished the race in second place behind his team mate’s Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and José María López continues to lead the drivers standings.
Alonso said that despite Toyota’s dominant performance, their rivals in the LMP1 class, Rebellion and SMP Racing have closed the gap in recent in recent races.
