It has been reported stateside that Fernando Alonso who announced earlier this week that he will not race in Formula One next season will take part in a post Portland Grand Prix road course test in the Andretti Autosport DW12.
The test which is set to take place at the Road America circuit will be able to help Alonso gauge his interest in a full-time drive the Verizon IndyCar Series in 2019.
The Portland Grand Prix takes places from August 31 to September 2 and this would give Alonso the opportunity to go to Road America as there is no Formula One or World Endurance Championship race.
IndyCar Series regulations state that a test must take place at a track that has already held a race in the year that the test has been scheduled for.
As reported by Paddock Eye recently, McLaren CEO Zak Borwn has said that an Alonso IndyCar test could take place in the Autumn once his schedule has settled down.
