McLaren Honda Andretti driver Fernando Alonso showed on Wednesday that he has acclimatized to life as Indianapolis 500-entrant as he ended day 3 of practice for the 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil in fourth place.
The Spaniard ended up as the fastest of the six Andretti Autosport entrants despite limited running.
The double Formula One world champion has just ten days left until he takes the green flag for the 101st running of the Indianapolis 500.-Alonso has all the tools he needs to have a strong race as he has been extremely impressive all month and got to grips with the No.29 Dallara Honda in no time at all.
Alonso is also benefiting from the experience of having two Indianapolis 500 winners as his team mates.
The Spaniard is also benefiting from the support of Verizon IndyCar Series legend Mario Andretti and coaching from Gil De Feran. Team owner Michael Andretti will call the strategy for Alonso next weekend.
Andretti Autosport are fielding six cars at the Indianapolis 500 this year which means that Alonso can draw on the pool of data from the six cars as it helps to move the team forward when it comes to car set-up.
