Fernando Alonso has confirmed that he will return to the Indianapolis 500 following the best moment of his career to date in Sunday’s 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil.

Although the double Formula One champion was forced to retire from the race with just 21 laps remaining he can be extremely proud of what he achieved during the month of May.

The Spaniard suffered an engine failure thst ended his race however up until that point xhe was running extremely well leading the race several times in his McLaren Honda Andretti car.

Alonso who started the race from fifth place on the grid ran at the front of the field all day until his failure.
