Michael Andretti and Bryan Herta have announced that they will continue their partnership in the Verizon IndyCar Series for the 2018 season.
The partnership begin in 2016 when former Formula One driver, Alexander Rossi joined the team as a fourth entry for Michael Andretti’s Andretti Autosport team driving the No.98 Honda.
Rossi has been extremely successful during his time in the No.98 having won the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil as a rookie in 2016.
Rossi went on to dominate the 2017 IndyCar Grand Prix at The Glen. For the 2018 season, Marco Andretti, who endured a tough season in 2017 will move across to the No.98 Bryan Herta Autosport Honda for the 2018 Verizon IndyCar Series season which gets underway from March 9-11 with the Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg.
Bryan Herta moved off Alexander Rossi’s pit-stand in 2017 and moved over to the No.27 crew where he was the chief strategist to Andretti. Speaking about the renewed partnership, president of Bryan Herta Autosport, Bryan Herta commented by saying:
I’m thrilled to be continuing the partnership with Andretti Autosport. “The relationship has worked really well both on and off the track for us and our partners. I’m looking forward to moving back onto the No. 98 timing stand with Marco and can’t wait to get the 2018 season started.
Marco Andretti who commented on the news saying:
I’m very much looking forward to being in the Andretti-Herta entry. “My goal is to bring the No. 98 another Indy 500 win along with many other victories. Working with Bryan has been refreshing – he is very committed to getting me all the tools I need to get back into victory circle. He believes in my talent and is dedicated to turn that into results.
Alexander Rossi moves across to the No.27 Honda for 2018 and will have NAPA Auto Parts as primary sponsor for 10 races in 2018.
