Andretti Autosport have confirmed to Paddock Eye that they are working towards running a fifth entry for the 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil on May 28.

The Indianapolis based outfit have four full-time cars for the 2017 Verizon IndyCar Series with Takuma Sato replacing Carlos Munoz alongside Ryan Hunter Reay, Marco Andretti and defending Indianapolis 500 champion Alexander Rossi following Munoz’ move to AJ Foyt Racing.

Speaking to Paddock Eye on Wednesday night, a spokesman from Andretti Autosport stated:

While we have not yet confirmed and announced our fifth car plans for Indy this year, the team is working toward a fifth entry.

The 2017 Verizon IndyCar Series season gets underway from March 10 – 12 with the Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg.
