Andretti Autosport head into the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge next weekend hoping for a strong race following a great start to the 2019 NTT IndyCar Series season for the team especially Alexander Rossi.

Speaking ahead of the race, Rossi who lies second in points said:

“It’s always great to get back to the oval at IMS. We had a strong car in the test a few weeks ago so hopefully we have a good starting point for Opening Day. We’ll focus on building a good qualifying car and race car and rebound in the big one.

Ryan Hunter Reay in the No.28 DHL Honda who like Rossi is a previous winner of the race is looking forward to the race saying:

I’m trying to be optimistic about the Indy 500. Things haven’t really been going our way this year, but we traditionally have a strong showing on the oval, so hopefully we can get the ball rolling quickly.”

Conor Daly joins the team for the 500 with support from the US Air Force and speaking about the race he said:

This is obviously an important week. I’m really excited to get to work with team, full blast. We have a lot of things to get through, a lot of things to test and a lot of things I still need to learn about this car. I’m excited to just take it step by step, day by day and see how fast we can get this No. 25 U.S. Air Force car to go. Most of all cant wait to work with this team and get used to everything and hopefully have a really good next two weeks.”

On the 50th anniversary of Mario Andretti’s win, his grandson Marco in the No.98 US Concrete Honda will be hoping he can challenge for victory saying:

The Indy 500 is a championship in itself. This year we’re celebrating my grandfather’s win 50 years ago and it would be extra sentimental to win this year. We’ve always had a fast car at the Speedway and we’ve been close to that win so many times. I cant wait to get going today and be running in the proper direction.”

Zach Veach in the No.26 Gainbridge Honda is looking for to the race saying:

It’s quite an honor to be carrying the same logo on my sidepod that is presenting the Indy 500 this year. It’s an honor and a privilege to have this relationship with Gainbridge. I’m excited to get back to year three, hopefully my third Indy 500 and hopefully one with a lot less fire compared to last year. This race is the one that means the most to us – to be able to win it would be everything – thats what were here to do. Luckily I have a great team and we have a new teammate joining us, Conor Daly. I’m excited to see what we can all accomplish this month.”
