Andretti Autosport owner Michael Andretti has confirmed that he has briefly spoken to Fernando Alonso about the possibility of the Spaniard competing in the 104th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge.

Reports in the US say that while Alonso is in discussions with McLaren about his future with the Woking based outfit Michael Andretti has confirmed that he has spoken to the double Formula One world champion about reuniting for the 2020 Indianapolis 500.

Andretti who partnered with McLaren for the 2017 Indianapolis 500 has admitted that at this moment in time a deal to run Alonso again at Indy is a long way off.

As it stands Andretti Autosport has five full time entries in the NTT IndyCar Series and Andretti Technology, a subsidiary of Andretti Autosport have partnered with Michael Shank Racing to run Jack Harvey in the No.60 AutoNation Sirius XM Honda full time in the NTT IndyCar Series for 2020 and 2021.
