Verizon IndyCar Series team owner Michael Andretti was at the Canadian Grand Prix on Friday for free practice as a guest of McLaren Renault.
Andretti was spotted in the McLaren garage as Fernando Alonso prepared to go on track for a practice run. Andretti was at the track while his team were participating in the opening practice session for Saturday nights DXC Technology 600 at Texas Motor Speedway.
Andretti’s visit with McLaren comes just one week after McLaren CEO Zak Brown and Racing Director Eric Bouiller were at the Detroit Grand Prix for talks as the Woking based organisation explore their options about entering the Verizon IndyCar Series full-time in 2019.
Paddock Eye understands that McLaren will run a team in the Verizon IndyCar Series in 2019 with technical support from Andretti Autosport much like they did for last years Indianapolis 500.
