Formula One world championship leader Nico Rosberg has criticized the layout of the new Baku circuit which makes its debut on the Formula One calendar as the European Grand Prix.
In the build up to the race on Sunday, speaking about the circuit, Rosberg described parts of the circuit as:
really not looking good
Rosberg who leads the championship by just nine points ahead of reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton who has taken back to back victories in Monaco and last time in Montreal. Rosberg isn’t the only driver however to criticize the new circuit as 2009 world champion Jenson Button criticized the lack of run over areas which on the fastest Formula One street circuit there is will not be good as it is unsafe. Button commented by saying:
We trust in the FIA and they do a fantastic job in keeping us safe. They have improved pretty much every circuit we go to, including Monaco. It’s just that on certain corners here, it looks as if there is not a lot of run-off. Hopefully I’m wrong. It is fine as long as no-one has a failure, we will go away all happy. We just have to hope that doesn’t happen.
