Honda Indy Toronto President Jeff Atkinson has praised the fans who turned out for the 30th anniversary of the race which took place last month.
In an email sent to fans who attended the race, Atkinson commented by saying:
We are thrilled…we saw our best crowd in years and by far the largest since Green Savoree began the promotion of the IndyCar race in Toronto, Our event also wouldn’t have been possible without the support of more than 450 volunteers who helped make this weekend as successful and enjoyable as it was. Also deserving of praise and our thanks were our dedicated partners, like title sponsor Honda Canada, who helped make this event a reality.
Atkinson concluded by saying:
The entire staff at the Honda Indy Toronto and Green Savoree Racing Promotions looks forward to welcoming you back to Exhibition Place in 2017. See you next year!
The 2016 Honda Indy Toronto was an extremely special race for home favourite Schmidt Peterson Motorsports James Hinchcliffe who returned to racing in Toronto for the first time since 2014 and finished the race on the podium in third place behind race winner Will Power and second placed Helio Castroneves.
