Chip Ganassi Racing and their newly crowned six time NTT IndyCar Series champion Scott Dixon who pilots the No.9 PNC Bank Honda will be back on track this week just days after wrapping up the 2020 championship in the season ending Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg where the Iceman came through the field from eleventh place to finish the race on the podium in third place to win the championship by 16 points from 2019 champion Josef Newgarden of Team Penske.
The Iceman and the No.9 PNC Bank crew will be back at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Wednesday to conduct testing at the Speedway.
The team will then head to Barber Motorsports Park next week for a full field test where they will be joined by seven time Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson who announced on Saturday that that he will drive the No.48 Carvana Honda for the road and street and street course events in 2021.
Speaking to Paddock Eye during the announcement, Chip Ganassi said that Johnson has been immersed in the team for the past two months alongside his existing Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series commitments with Hendrick Motorsports.
It is unclear if Johnson will join Dixon at the IMS test this week before he takes to the cockpit of the No.48 Honda.
