Defending NTT IndyCar Series champion Scott Dixon in the No.9 PNC Bank Honda for Chip Ganassi Racing heads into the end of season Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca this weekend having finished in sixth place here in 2002.
The Iceman has an uphill battle to retain his championship as the five time champion is in fourth place in the championship, 85 points behind championship leader Josef Newgarden.
Dixon raced at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in CART for PacWest in 2001 where he finished fourth before moving to Chip Ganassi Racing the following year.
Taking to Twitter on Wednesday the Iceman said:
It’s been a bad luck season for us this year, but to still be a championship contender after so many problems is a huge credit to the team… We will be working hard come Sunday to bring the win home. #ready #bankonthe9 #hardout #chasing6🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆 https://t.co/Pk4aJx1rSG
