Chip Ganassi Racing announced on Wednesday that long time racing executive Doug Duchardt has been named as the new Chief Operating Officer of the company.
Duchardt takes up his new role with immediate effect as Chip Ganassi Racing continue preparations for the 2018 racing season. Duchardt will work closely with Chip Ganassi Racing’s Managing Director of IndyCar and IMSA programme’s Mike Hull, the company’s new Managing Director of NASCAR operations Max Jones who has been promoted from within the company and president of Chip Ganassi Racing, Steve Lauletta.
Speaking about his appointment to the organisation, Duchardt commented by saying:
I am excited to become a part of Chip Ganassi Racing. “I, along with the rest of the industry have always admired Chip and what he does across so many forms of racing. What has been especially impressive of late has been the turnaround they have made in their NASCAR operation. I am also looking forward to competing in INDYCAR and IMSA once again. Along with Felix Sabates and Rob Kauffman, Chip has assembled a group of championship caliber people on each of his teams that I am looking forward to working with and helping them achieve even more success both on and off the track.
Chip Ganassi Racing also announced on Wednesday the formation of a new corporate office to oversee Ganassi’s global racing operations.
This new office includes team owner/founder and CEO Chip Ganassi Racing, President of Chip Ganassi Racing Steve Lauletta, COO Doug Duchardt, CFO Chuck Gottschalk and Chip Ganassi Racing’s vice president of Human Resources Rob Wilder.
Speaking about Doug Duchardt’s arrival at the outift, team owner Chip Ganassi said:
We are all so pleased to get someone with both Doug’s racing credentials and his business acumen. “He has a lot of racing championships under his belt and a strong track record for running successful businesses and has the respect of the racing industry. Doug will be a great addition to help lead what I think is already a very good group of people.
In the Verizon IndyCar Series in 2018, Chip Ganassi Racing have reduced their number of cars from four to two full-time entries with 2017 Sunoco rookie of the year and former Dale Coyne Racing driver Ed Jones joining the team.
The 2018 Verizon IndyCar Series season gets underway from March 9-11 with the Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg.
