Scuderia Ferrari Team Principal Maurizio Arrivabene has labelled reports of his imminent departure from the team as ‘fake news’. It was suggested in the Italian media over the weekend that a rift has developed between Arrivabene and the Ferrari board with the Italian car manufacturer lining up technical director Mattia Binotto to replace Arrivabene.
The rumors came about after the Prancing Horse failed to secure the 2018 Drivers championship, with Sebastian Vettel losing out to Lewis Hamilton.
The Italian team do however still have an opportunity to win the Constructors championship for the first time since 2008 as they are just 55 points behind leaders Mercedes with a maximum 86 points on offer.
Many have speculated that the decision to replace Kimi Raikkonen with Charles Leclerc was the wrong one and that the Italian team are in fact replacing the wrong the driver,
Speaking about the rumors regarding his future, Maurizio Arrivabene said:
Let’s make it clear once and for all. “The rumours about Mattia are a fake news, put around to create instability in the team, an attempt to try to create problems where there are no problems, and I do not want to comment on false rumors anymore.
