President of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, J Douglas Boles has confirmed that the Speedway are confident that fans will be in attendance for next month’s 105th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on May 30 despite a slight spike in the number of COVID-19 cases reported in Indianapolis.

Speaking as testing continued at the Speedway on Friday, Boles said:

“If we’re prioritizing things, we’re prioritizing the Indy 500, the race itself, to have as many fans as possible here.

Boles also confirmed that the Speedway hopes to have fans in attendance for practice and qualifying but that the main priority is for the race itself.
