W Series CEO Catherine Bond Muir says that she hopes that the female driver that the Scuderia Ferrari Formula One team plan to bring into their young driver academy comes from her series.
The all female W Series made its race debut in 2019 which was a almighty success. Series champion Jamie Chadwick become development driver with ROKiT Williams Racing for the 2019 season alongside her other racing commitments.
Scuderia Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto said this week that he wants a female driver to enter their academy.
It was announced this week that W Series will host two races alongside Formula One weekend’s in Mexico and the United States this year.
Speaking to Crash.net, Bond Muir commended Ferrari for looking at bringing a female driver into their academy.
She said that she thinks that it is not just a marketing ploy that the Prancing Horse do genuinely want to bring a female driver into Formula One.
This season the driver who wins the the W Series championship will receive 15 points on her FIA Super Licence.
